Upcoming Sessions

Service Description

This is virtual ZOOM Workshop that can be taken from the comfort of your home. A full-length recording of the workshop will be available online for all students after the workshop has completed. I've received a few requests for a class that focuses on the intricacies of glass, liquid, and the juxtaposition of sparkling transparent elements with colorful opaque objects. And so here you have it -- a classic martini glass with the traditional olives, set against a backdrop of a brilliant blue vodka bottle and shiny yellow lemons. And here's the twist -- we're going to use a bit of sandpaper to create the shine on those lemons! Please come to class with your drawing prepared on the paper and size of your choice. I will be working on 300lb arches natural, about 11x14. When doing your drawing please eliminate the text on the martini glass. but leave the text on the vodka bottle. I may decide to eliminate the design on the table cloth. And perhaps we'll add an olive down next to the cocktail stick bottom left? It’s totally your choice. Don't forget to print a black and white copy of the full photo that will be sent to you ... the black and white print is the key for our values . Have all your paints handy along with round and flat brushes. A scrubber brush will be essential. Also you'll need a small piece of regular sandpaper. In the past I found that straight ultramarine blue didn’t quite match the gorgeous blue of the Skye Vodka bottle. I found that Permanent Blue by Dahler Rowney was perfect . Sadly, it has become difficult to find, so if you don't have it, don't worry -- we will will work some cobalt into ultramarine for an almost perfect color for the bottle. There will be some masking and a masking guide will be sent to about a week ahead of the class. The essential pigments for this class are as follows . Verditer Blue Brown Madder Mineral Violet Burnt Sienna Scarlet Lake Quin Red (Sennelier) Gamboge Nova Aueroline or any cool yellow Quin Gold Sap Green Ultra Marine Blue or Permanent Blue Cobalt Blue Antwerp Blue Indigo Manganese Hue Helio Cerulian I look forward to seeing all of you in October. In the meantime, do visit villaserenain.com periodically to check out the many new workshops that are planned for the coming months.
