This LIVE Workshop will be held at The Carriage House Studio at Sarasota's historic Villa Serena Inn. You have been asking for a parrot painting and here it is! This painting hangs in my home. I find him or her very compelling. I love the play of the red and green complimentary colors. Putting in a red background will be a big part of this class. Please come to this class with the drawing done on the paper and in the size of your choice. I will be painting on 300lb paper approximately 1/4 sheet in size. Please print a black and white copy of the photo for your values. Make sure to have all your paints and brushes handy. Round and flats and a scrubber brush. And, if you have one, a flat angle brush is excellent for creating the background. We will not finish this painting in the class but by workshop's end you will have all the techniques and steps that you'll need to finish this striking painting on your own . There will be a bit of masking: we'll mask only the light struck edge of the parrots lower lip. The essential pigments for this class are as follows. Permanent Rose Quin Red by Sennelier Scarlet lake Mineral Violet Sap Green Compose Green Aureolin or any cool yellow New Gamboge Burnt Sienna Transparent orange Indigo Helio Cerulian Manganese In the information that you'll receive prior to the workshop, you will also receive my "Master Supply List" which itemizes pretty much all of the tools and pigments in my watercolor toolkit. You don't need everything on the Master Supply List for this workshop — I created the master list as a reference for those who love working in watercolor and are compelled to achieve a greater level of virtuosity and joy from this most rewarding medium. This is a 5-hour workshop with a lunch break. Don't forget to bring a salad, sandwich, or nosh of your choice for the lunch break. The Carriage House Studio provides bottled water, multiple coffee & cocoa selections, and a selection of snack bars to keep your energy up. I look forward to seeing you person at this live workshop.
